Is the sweat beading on your brow? Unless you have a home warranty through us, your home’s cooling systems might quit and you’ll have to face the cost alone. Protect yourself with a warranty from Freedom! No warranty, no worries, stay cool! Here’s some tips by Freedom Home Warranty on how to stay chilly this hot, hot summer.
Drink Plenty of Water
While this seems like an obvious tip, it’s hard to remember to keep your body hydrated throughout the day. Drink at least 64 ounces a day to start. If you don’t like the taste of plain ol’ water, try adding mint leaves or pieces of fresh or frozen fruit to add a splash of excitement.
Chill Out in the Basement
Head downstairs during the hottest hours of the day. Even if your AC works fine, leaving the thermostat a little higher and chilling downstairs can result in energy savings. Plus, the temperature is usually 10-15 degrees cooler than upstairs.
Sleep Under a Cool Sheet
Although your comfortable duvet is nice for cooler months, opt for sleeping under a flat sheet instead. An even cooler tip: put your sheet in a plastic bag and keep in the refrigerator until bed time.
Brew up a pot of peppermint tea and stick it in the fridge. Once it’s nice and cool, put the tea in a spray bottle and lightly mist yourself. Menthol in the mint is a natural skin soother.
Dress Cool to Stay Cool
This is a no-brainer. Ancient Egyptian cultures wore cotton and linen clothes for good reason, they soak up sweat and keep your body cooler. Speaking of sweat, you want the clothes to be breathable with as much air flow as possible. So maybe not wearing any is the best solution?
